ABSTRACT

Departing from the question concerning the way in which the catholic identity should shine in the Medical School of an educational institution that is declared to be officially catholic, the author reflects on the possibility of engaging in a dialogue that would be tolerant and pluralistic, coming precisely from the Christian identity. Unfolding this reflection, the author tries to show that a catholic ought to be tolerant, as this attitude is demanded by the very faith he/she holds. A proposal is made as how to cultivate an open and tolerant attitude in the academic work in general, and more concretely, in the teaching of Bioethics in a Catholic Medical School.
